KOH WAI PAKARANG RESORT – Prices & Reviews (Ko Wai, Thailand)
We were first sceptical to book this resort due to the mixed reviews, but in the end we extended our stay to 3 nights. The Koh Wai Beach Resort on the other side of the island (our second choice) is just too secluded. In front of the Pankarang we were never more than 6 people on the beach. It’s different at the Paradise resort where they land directly on the beach and the whole beach is swamped with them. It is a 40 min steep hike to get from one side to the other. I my opinion the resort is the best option on Koh Wai. Or when they run out of gas. The Pankarang Resort was clean, the moskito net didn‘t have any holes, the air conditioning was working, the staff super motivated to help and the food in the restaurant was fine (ca. 100-200 baht per dish). The daily visitors came every day between 10-17 with big boats but luckily they stayed away from the beach. But could be also due to the constant nice breeze. Only between 15-17h they shut down the electricity generator. You cannot expect much luxus on the island. There are chairs and beach chairs available. There is beautiful snorkeling in the coral reefs on the beach, fishing and kayaking. There is only cold showers available. The climate seemed to me a little cooler and more agreeable than on Koh Chang and Koh Mak. We really enjoyed relaxing on this beautiful island. All other resorts didn’t look as clean and well maintained. On Koh Wai you pay for the beautiful view, the quiet and the layed back atmosphere.
